We are now closed for Christmas!
As a Family run company, Christmas time has always been an important time for us to rest and recharge with Friends and Family.
I have worked in the retail sector my whole life, and Christmas was always the busiest time in sales of luxury items. The problem with that was the demand on the staff – usually working 16 days in a row, or more. Â Without a day off, working 13-14 hour shifts, normally skipping lunch breaks and going home absolutely exhausted. This became an unhealthy environment to work in, but when you don’t have children and you’re 20 years younger than I am now – you don’t really notice. Until you step back and realise how much you’ve missed. I used to finish late on Christmas Eve and almost collapse on Christmas Day – only to return to work on Boxing day. (Disclaimer: I’m sure 20 years on, companies are now managing their teams wellbeing far better, or at least I hope they are).
So when I opening my own business, Christmas opening times were the first thing I would address. My Team would all enjoy time off with their Families, without risk of collapse.
