We’ve upped the ante with our improved Kids Pro Robe – the perfect piece of outdoor apparel for everything from school run trips to cold water dips.

Its technical 8k/3k waterproof PFC-free DWR fabric provides the ultimate protection for the great outdoors, with the navy-coloured front-zip robe doubling up as a smart yet robust school coat.

The oh-so-soft black lining offers duvet-like warmth when your youngster is up against the elements in the great outdoors, with cold hands quickly warmed thanks to fleece-lined outer-hand pockets.

Toggles on the hood mean you can tailor the tightness to keep the wind and rain out, great for when your kid is hanging out pitch-side in poor weather or burning energy on a windswept beach.

Its YKK-central zip comes with a Velcro baffle that offers an easy-close solution at times when chilly fingers won’t work, while an inner underwear pocket provides discreet, no-fuss changing.

For parents looking to get value for money, our oversized Kids Pro Robe has a shelf life that will see them through the years thanks to full-length adjustable and elasticated sleeves with Velcro.

Sustainability

At Red, sustainability isn’t just marketing hype – it’s at the core of what we do. As a certified B Corp (www.bcorporation.net) we champion high standards of social and environmental performance, transparency, and accountability.

Made using 100% recycled materials on the outer and inner shell, our Kids Pro Robes are expertly crafted with Mother Nature in mind. Wrap your youngster in fabrics that not only protect them but the planet too, without compromising on the high quality and performance for which Red is renowned the world over.

Our earth-loving team of robe innovators have created a collection that’s built to stand the test of time, thereby minimising our impact on the planet. Pairing tried-and-tested materials with carefully considered features, such as adjustable sleeves and an oversized design, our robes guarantee lots of longevity.

Care

With kids comes lots of sand, water and dirt, so keeping their robe clean is one of the best ways to preserve its life. To keep your robe in tip-top condition, follow these simple tips:

Try to spot-wash the Kids Dry Pro Robe unless it’s really filthy. As with all DWR-treated fabrics, the more you wash the less treatment the garment is exposed to, so as a general rule try to minimise thorough washes to times when it’s absolutely necessary.

When you do wash your robe, you should do so at no more than 30 degrees C with a slow spin cycle. After the first 4-5 full washes you’ll need to boost the DWR with a special outdoor kit washing liquid (Grainger’s/ Nikwax or similar) at no more than 30 degrees C, again with a slow spin cycle.

Laundry detergent is designed to break down grease and oils, and with the DWR coating looking a lot like grease to detergents, we only recommend doing this every 3 – 6 months depending on how much wear the robe has had.

We suggest washing and drying inside out as the outer layer will dry quickly, whereas the fleece lining will take longer by nature if its thicker fabric. By hanging the robe inside out you’ll also allow any residual water to evaporate faster. If possible, dry it flat in the sun or in winter, hanging the robe in a warm spot will speed up drying.

Materials

Made from the same high-performing fabrics as our adults’ Pro Change Robe EVO, our Kids Dry Pro Robes are crafted with an equal degree of uncompromising quality and care. The 150gcm 8k/3k PFC-free DWR waterproof polyester 2-layer fabric provides excellent water run-off, while at the same time being breathable and 100% recycled.

But while the robust outer layer is built to withstand the harshest of elements, the 300gsm polyester Sherpa-fleece inner lining is ultra-soft of your kids’ skin, as well as scoring on its eco creds. The 100% recycled material is moisture-wicking, meaning it expertly draws water away from the skin while also insulating to keep the wearer truly toasty.

    Cover Care

Leaves, Dust, Sap, Pollen, Bird Poo and other debris not only makes for an unsightly spa cover, they can be a foothold for mildew, moss & other damage.

Extend the life, and preserve the beauty of your new cover, with regular preventative care:

    • Rinse with cool water using a garden hose
    • Spray with a gentle, pH neutral & non-foaming cleaner
    • Clean gently with a non-abrasive sponge
    • Rinse again thoroughly & allow to dry
    • Repeat monthly

Never use laundry or other detergents, abrasives, bleach, alcohols, dish soap or harsh cleaners. These products remove some of the topcoat protectant, stripping fabric of its water repellency and dulling vinyl.

    Stubborn Dirt or Stains

Occasionally covers require more than a gentle clean. Instead of using products that can damage your cover, do this:

    • For stubborn dirt, allow a gentle cleaner to soak for a few minutes before wiping
    • Carefully loosen moss or mold growing on the seams or zipper with a scrubbing sponge
    • Remove sticky tree sap with vegetable oil or margarine
    • Open the zipper to clean mold inside the cover jacket

    Cover Protection

With the cover now clean, applying a protectant significantly enhances its life expectancy.

The only products we recommend for this are 303 Aerospace Protectants. 303 acts as a sunscreen and water repellant, protecting the cover from harsh UV rays and moisture.

    Protecting Fabric:

    • Spray 303 Fabric Guard protectant onto clean, dry fabric until evenly wet
    • Allow 12-24 hours for protectant to cure
    • Treat monthly in summer, bi-monthly the rest of the year

    Protecting Vinyl:

    • Spray a light coating of 303 Vinyl Protectant to the underside of clean, dry cover
    • Spread evenly with a damp cloth or a sponge
    • Repeat on top and skirt of cover
    • Treat monthly in summer, bi-monthly the rest of the year

    Spa Covers - Handy Hints

Protecting the Insulating Core Foam Panels

Spa cover cores are easily damaged or broken if abused. Follow these rules to keep your cores in good shape:

    • Never allow children or animals on the spa cover
    • Never sit or walk on a spa cover
    • Keep glass & other objects off of the cover - items on the cover (even window glare) can magnify sunlight and melt the core
    • Remove & inspect a heavier than expected core immediately - it may be savable

Avoiding Damage to the outer skin

Keeping your spa cover duct-tape free and looking like new is a snap:

    • Use a high quality Cover Lifter to reduce stress on the seams & keep the cover off the ground
    • Use handles only for opening and closing the cover - NEVER lift or pull the cover by the skirt
    • Never drag the cover on the ground
    • Maintain proper water balance & sanitizer levels
    • Remove the cover completely when adding chemicals & leave it off for half an hour after
    • Use a floating spa blanket can help to protect the jacket from spa chemicals in evaporating water

    Weather Protection Advice

Spa covers hold up well to wind, rain, and snow, but an extra ounce of prevention will help your cover go the distance.

    Snow

It is a Fact: a single cubic foot of snow weighs about 30 pounds. That means an 8’x8’ spa cover with just 3” accumulation is supporting an extra 500 pounds - even more with wet snow or ice!

That kind of weight can easily damage or break an insulating core panel, leaving you out in the cold. Save yourself (and the cover) this trouble by gently removing accumulated snow. A soft broom works well!

    Rain

Rain doesn’t generally cause any issues, but it’s important to understand that covers aren’t rainproof. In periods of heavy rain, water can pass through jacket seams, around the insulating core, and finally, through weep-holes in the underside of the cover.

After heavy rain storms, check the water level of your spa and adjust it if needed.

    Wind

Unsecured hot tub covers can lift off of the spa or fly away, even in moderate wind. Always securely attach and lock the tie down straps after using the spa.
